Sketchbook Stuff!

Just Some sketchbook work I've done lately!

Drew this ghostly lady whilst listening to Wish You Well by Dum Dum Girls. Such a lovely song *sigh*

...Of course, I'm anticipating the new Metal Gear Solid V game!

Listening to Colour Me Wednesday. I'll be creating some art for them soon for their new album!

Ahhhh, the lovely Perkie, do listen to her stuff. Her voice is like honey. I think she's secretly a member of Fox Hound but I'm not sure...

Haha, this is Dale, a contestant from Masterchef 2013. I just thought he'd look good as a sailor oright! Gawd.

The Boss, Big Boss's mentor. One of the most human characters in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. She is amazing.

Kate Nash Ink Doodle

Hello,

Just an inky doodle I did. If you look carefully you can see my vain efforts to draw her using a dark pencil. Got angry and rubbed it all out and started fresh using a brush pen.
I might be seeing her tomorrow at The Shacklewell Arms, London. Fingers crossed!).

Inky Stuff

Yellow,

Some stuff I've drawn recently when I should have been working. I don't know if I've mentioned already, but I got a small commission doing some panels for OUP. A the moment I'm doing stuff on Dick Whittington. I'll be getting another story soon.

Raina

Hello,

I got the B&W commission! The brief from A&C Black. They want me to do 10 illustrations for a children's fiction titled Petrify aimed at 12-15-ish year olds. Just completed the roughs and sent them off. They wanted atmosphere, creepiness and a sort of graphic novel look. Since it's B&W, I've been rummaging the library for graphic novels, comics and other B&W work. I was delighted to find Craig Thompson's Blankets - Absolutely stunning. The ink-work is fluid and very accomplished. I've been analysing it to death. It inspired me so much I went and bought his latest graphic novel titled Habibi, influenced heavily by Arabic calligraphy and a sort of romantic orientalism.

The illustration is of Raina from Blankets. I must must must read it!

Bizzy Bizzy

sheesh,

been so busy I've had no time to blog. The good news is I've been commisioned to do illustrations for 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', it's big deal since its my first picture book job. The bad news is I got a lot of work to do and shouldn't get sidetracked! - (Is that one word?)

P.S:
I took this photograph of Katie Harkin of Sky Larkin at the Lexington in London on the 20th September 2010 - a great gig, her voice was amazing. Oh and check out my Tumblr. It's like a condensed version of this blog haha.

Sketchbook: Autumn

Hello,

Doodled this in my sketchbook and just wanted to develop it on Photoshop. It was inspired by Arthur Rackham's Autumn Fairies. I found the illustration on my 'Celebrating Arthur Rackham' themed tin pencil case packaging, (haha) and kept it because it looked so great, (the pencils are pretty poor, no wonder I barely used them). Anyway his compositions have such beautiful harmony. Hmm, she's not really dressed for autumn, is she.

Smaug

"There he lay a vast red-golden dragon, fast asleep; a thrumming came from his jaws and nostrils, and wisps of smoke, but his fires were low in slumber".

Silent Hill

hello,

I just found some fanart I did around a year ago of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. I've bought Homecoming for the PS3 recently, (it's quite hard). I used to enjoy the fact that I had the upper hand in the earlier games, any who the graphics are amazing.
